Accompanied by: three posters promoting the event; printed guide/prospectus to the event with narrative cassette tape; size XL cotton t-shirt from the event with fabric samples from the Umbrellas pinned on; commemorative Pepsi-Cola can depicting the Umbrellas and with a welcome message from the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co of Bakersfield; 56-pp newspaper supplement from the Bakersfield Californian providing details abot Christo anand the Umbrellas project. A nice small collection surrounding one of Christo's major international environmental art installations developed between 1984 and 1991. More than 3000 yellow and blue umbrellas were installed respectively in Japan and California. The exhibition closed early amid controversy after a woman was crushed to death when one of the nearly 500-pound umbrellas fell on her during high winds in the Tejon area between Bakersfield and Los Angeles.
