Nr. 52 von 1000 Exempl.Text engl.- For sixteen days—June 18 through July 3 2016—Italy's Lake Iseo was reimagined. 100000 square meters 1 million square feet of shimmering yellow fabric carried by a modular floating dock system of 220000 high-density polyethylene cubes undulated with the movement of the waves as The Floating Piers rose just above the surface of the water.Visitors were able to experience the work of art by walking on it from Sulzano to Monte Isola and to the island of San Paolo which was framed by The Floating Piers. The mountains surrounding the lake offered a bird's-eye view of The Floating Piers exposing unnoticed angles and altering perspectives. Lake Iseo is located 100 kilometers 62 miles east of Milan and 200 kilometers 124 miles west of Venice."Like all our projects The Floating Piers was absolutely free and open to the public" said Christo. "There were no tickets no openings no reservations and no owners. The Floating Piers were an extension of the street and belonged to everyone."A 3-kilometer-1.9-mile-long walkway was created as The Floating Piers extended across the water of Lake Iseo. The piers were 16 meters 52.5 feet wide and approximately 35 centimeters 13.8 inches high with sloping sides. The fabric continued along 2.5 kilometers 1.6 miles of pedestrian streets in Sulzano and Peschiera Maraglio."Those who experienced The Floating Piers felt like they were walking on water—or perhaps the back of a whale" said Christo. "The light and water transformed the bright yellow fabric to shades of red and gold throughout the sixteen days." 010 Köln, Taschen, 2017 unknown

She acted under President Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001 leading the United States through foreign policy in the Middle East with the endorsement of military action in Iraq. At the 1998 NATO summit Albright coined the “3 Ds†of NATO “which is no diminution of NATO no discrimination and no duplication – because I think that we don’t need any of those three “Ds†to happen.†After her tenure as Secretary of State she served as chair of the consulting Albright Stonebridge Group and was the Michael and Virginia Mortara Endowed Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. For Albright’s contributions to foreign policy and relations that defined a century President Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012. In fine condition. Bookplate to the front pastedown from “The Private Collection of Secretary Madeleine K. Albright.†Barils Barrels by Christo and Jeanne-Claude is a visual and conceptual exploration of the artists' iconic environmental works focusing specifically on their use of barrels in large-scale installations. The book showcases the couple's innovative approach to public art where everyday objects are transformed into monumental thought-provoking forms that engage with their surroundings. Christo and Jeanne-Claude are renowned for wrapping objects and landscapes in fabric and in this work their use of barrels serves as both a commentary on industrialization and a symbol of containment and transformation. The book not only documents the artistic process behind these installations but also reflects on the broader implications of their environmental art in terms of space perception and the interaction between art and public life. Through striking visuals and critical insight Barils Barrels emphasizes the artists’ ability to challenge conventional understandings of art encouraging viewers to rethink the relationship between art nature and society. 140949112Cologne: Taschen 1996. First Edition. Fine. Deluxe first edition "Special Edition" with fabric swatch mounted to back pastedown. 696 pp. profusely illustrated with color photographs. Oblong quarto bound in publisher's silver cloth lettered in blue on spine. Fine. Housed in the original slipcase printed paper and silver cloth with spot of soiling to upper edge.

The story of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's 24-year quest to wrap Germany's historic parliament building in woven silvery cloth held with blue rope. The two artists were known for their monumental fabric installations of which this was the most iconic. The installation subverted the imposing dignity of the famous building a Neo-Renaissance behemoth left in ruins by the Battle for Berlin in 1945. The building was stripped and restored by the West German government during the 1960s then further repaired and crowned with a new glass dome in time for the new millennium. Before the new construction began Christo and Jeanne-Claude finally gained permission to wrap the building after decades of lobbying. The effort was seen as a symbol of reunification drawing millions of Germans to physically interact with what would once more be the seat of their government for the first time since 1933.
