Plus de quinze ans de travail ont été nécessaires pour réunir la documentation et les pièces représentatives de la région picarde. Les biographies de près de 1150 orfèvres (avec 300 poinçons) y sont synthétisées et s'appuient sur des sources largement inédites. Etablis pour chacune des communautés d'orfèvres, des tableaux de la marque et des poinçons de communauté (260 poinçons) permettent de référencer les objets.
