He was admitted to the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Chunking Central University and then transferred to the Faculty of Law of Dongwu University majoring in International Law. He was an English translator at Ta Kung Pao newspaper and subsequently moved to Hong Kong with the newspaper and worked as a copy editor at Ta Kung Pao and Hsin Wan Pao newspapers. At this time he also took on the job as scenarist-director at the Great Wall Movie Enterprises Ltd. and Phoenix Film Company in the late 1950s focusing on play writing and in 1955 he began to write swordplay fiction. In the meantime he started the Ming Pao Daily News with Shen Baoxin in 1959 acting as its director. Since 1966 he has expanded his publishing network considerably. The immense popularity of his martial-arts novels continues unabated having sold more than 1 billion copies making him the most popular living Chinese author. He has more than redefined the genre. Critic Simon Elegant has compared the power of the novels to a Chinese Three Musketeers a Patrick O'Brian naval series and George MacDonald's Flashman combined. ; "Kung fu together with Chinese medicine calligraphy painting playing Go and strumming the seven-stringed zither constitute the core of the Chinese cultural essence. All these elements appear in the novels and their placement firmly in the myth-shrouded past combine to produce a kind of 'cultural euphoria' in Chinese readers that cannot be found anywhere else in modern Chinese literature."--John Minford. ; in multicolored pictorial dustjackets with classic watercolor scenes color-coded by novel and stiff paper wrappers ; text in Chinese with many illustrations; Paginations: Bi xue jian 2 v. 4 828 p. : ill. ; 21 cm.; Series: Jin Yong zuo pin ji ; 3-4 ISBN: 7108006677; 9787108006677 ; LCCN:2007-556539 ; OCLC: 32447936 -- Shen diao xia lu 4 v. 4 1564 p. : ill. ; 21 cm. ; Series: Jin Yong zuo pin ji ; 9-12 ISBN: 7108006669 set; 9787108006660 set ; LCCN: 2007-556538 ; OCLC: 32447953 -- Xue shan fei hu 4 394 p. : ill. ; 21 cm. ; Series: Jin Yong zuo pin ji ; 13 ; ISBN: 7108006642; 9787108006646 ; LCCN:2007-558748 ; OCLC: 32752984 -- Fei hu wai zhuan 2 v. 4 726 p. : ill. ; 21 cm. ; Series: Jin Yong zuo pin ji ; 14-15 ISBN: 7108006650; 9787108006653 ; LCCN:2007-558749 ; OCLC: 32752899 -- Yi tian tu long ji 4 v. 4 1594 p. : ill. ; 21 cm. "When 'Willhelmine' was first published in 1764 without an author's name it caused a tremendous stir: Lessing wanted to proclaim that Germany had one more genius. The thunderous acclaim that the 26-year-old poet and court squire Moritz August von Thummel received did not deter him from consulting the criticism of older friends; and thus a second 'Willhelmine' the heavily revised final version was published as early as 1766. The reservations that the 18th century felt it had to raise about the first edition created in a single stroke in a happy hour are irrelevant today. Content and style as well as the later convictions of the poet himself justify the choice of the first version which this reprint reproduces word for word and punctuates faithfully. Luther's exit in this humorous scene can no more be misinterpreted today than the poet can be reproached for the violated unity of time in the first canto. As a whole 'Willhelmine' represents the first successful attempt to transfigure idyllic German conditions with French elegance. At the same time Thummel displays a naively noble reserve which is lacking in both the poet's teacher Voltaire and his later rival Wieland. 'Willhemine' is one of the most amiable and witty representatives of the preclassical period. Voss's Luise and Goethe's Hermann and Dorothea demonstrate the way in which the realistic idyll of the classical period is linked to 'Willhelmine' the most significant idyllic comic heroic poem. 1953237j0879London: Britons Publishing Society. Good in Good dust jacket. 1953. Fourth Edition - Revised and Enlarged. Hardcover. "On the surface it would seem madness for millionaires to strive for Communism but there is irrefutable evidence that they do so strive and in Russia have in fact created a dictatorship which masquerades under the name of Communism while its only real achievement has been the liquidation of the gentile aristocracy and every Christian institution. The facts revealed in this book including the detailed plan for world revolution and world government discovered long before the first world war are so damning that no newspaper would dare to offend British readers by denying the truth. Hence the discreet silence in the Press and the slowness with which vital knowledge is spread. Their aim is a World State and a Slave State in which the masters will be of one tribe and one religious persuasion. There may be only a short time in which to learn the truth and act upon it." - dust jacket. 8-267 p. Index. Rubber stamp upon back free endpaper otherwise tanned contents clean and unmarked.
