This is a fine hardcover copy with a fine dust jacket. No fading to the jacket. Completely clean. Standard monograph on the French art deco ironwork master Edgar Brandt (1880- 1960). Foreword by Francois Brandt the son of Edgar Brandt. 232 illustrations including 60 color plates. Joan Kahr drew extensively on interviews with the family and had free access to their archive documenting the extensive works and commissions of Edgar Brandt. Catalogue de l'entreprise de quincaillerie FONTAINE et CIE, fondée en 1740: 260 planches présentant une multitude (chaque planche comportant de 7 à 60 vignettes) de modèles de béquilles, boutons, serrures, anneaux de clefs, rosettes pour boutons, entrées de clef, plaques de propreté, targettes, verrous, paumelles, crémones, espagnolettes et agrafes d'espagnolettes, boucles, poignées, loquets, marteaux de portes, pentures, équerres, clous de portes, prises de courant, tringles, judas, porte-étiquettes, entrées de boîtes à lettres, coulisseaux et poussoirs, moulures et rosaces, cuvettes pour portes à coulissse, tirettes, poignées, vases de rampes..., de styles de différentes époques (médiévale à contemporaine); précédées d'un texte technique et historique orné de nombreuses figures, dans une mise en page imitant celle du XVIIIè siècle. Un "avertissement" de l'éditeur précise "Cette nouvelle édition de notre album de serrurerie décorative contient de nombreux modèles qui ne figuraient pas dans l'édition de 1900; par contre, un certain nombre de modèles [...] de 1900 n'ont pu trouver place ici": ce qui doit expliquer que l'ouvrage ne présente que 260 planches, paginées de 1 à 530, mais sans manque (ainsi, un verso de feuille peut avoir un n° qui ne suit pas celui du recto: planche 50 au verso de la planche 40 par exemple).
