195695933Los Angeles: Korean Independence News Co 1956. Good. 8-page issues first four page in English; last four in Korean. 32 cm. No separate wrapper. Not printed on high acid paper. First established in 1943. Frequency varied until 1954. Issued monthly thereafter until June 1955; bi-monthly July-August 1954 -- April-May 1956; final issue was a quarterly. Ex lib. Yale University Library. The issues were sliced along left side presumably for filming and then discarded by Yale discard stamp at bottom of first page. Some chipping and wear along edges but we didn't notice any loss of text. Diamond Kimm identified as editor in the three 1956 issues; the editor does not seem to be identified at least in the English-language portions on the earlier issues. This newspaper seem clearly tilted toward North Korea. We don't know whether the newspaper started in 1943 as pro-Communist or was just a general leftist anti-Japanese pro-Korean independence newspaper which took the side of North Korea after Korea was divided into North and South. This newspaper appears to be available on microfilm. Korean Independence News Co unknown
