7092This is a unique collection of ephemera previously owned by Robert Parrish 1918-1994 who was the editor of Magicol Magazine until his death in 1994. Magicol is the official magazine of the Magic Collectors' Association published quarterly from 1950 to the present.<br /> <br /> This collection contains: <br /> 10 Christmas cards from notable magicians most of them signed.<br /> 2 private invitations to The Magic Circle's Sixth Collectors' Day in 1981<br /> 8 press photos from the magazine. Some are still pasted onto page layouts.<br /> A vintage Magicraft catalog and blank order form<br /> 2 vintage magic pamphlets<br /> <br /> The Christmas cards are the real stars of this collection. All cards are addressed to "Bob and Jean" from the following people:<br /> 1 inscribed and signed card from British comedy magician Ali Bongo 1929-2009<br /> 1 unsigned card from British magician Jeffery Atkins 1919-2001<br /> 1 signed card from American ventriloquist and magician Ruth "Tommy" Atkins 1923-2000. Atkins hosted a children's TV show called Story Time for Children from 1947-1952.<br /> 1 inscribed and signed card from magic historian Tom Ewing. Ewing co-owns the Haverstat & Ewing Galleries for magic collectibles.<br /> 3 unsigned cards from magician and magic historian Edwin "Eddie" Dawes 1925-2023.<br /> 1 inscribed and signed card and 2 unsigned cards from American magician Jim Alfredson 1937-. Alfredson was editor of Magicol from 1973-1988.<br /> <br /> The press photos depict the following magicians:<br /> French magician Dany Ray 1929-1981 and his assistant<br /> Chicago magician Ken Diamond and Louise. This photo was used on the cover of The New Tops Vol. 5 No. 7 July 1965.<br /> Argentinian magician Richard Suey and his assistant<br /> Argentinian magician Fantasio 1936-2017 and Monica<br /> Canadian magician Celeste Evans 1931-2017. The photo is pasted onto a layout page with the article "Beauty of Magic."<br /> Chicago magician Johnny Paul performing a card trick to some guests from the AIME mining and engineering association at Davenports in London.<br /> 2 publicity cards with photos of Danish magician Truxa 1919-1996<br /> Additionaly there are 2 press photos in this collection depicting people whom this bookseller has not been able to identify. The booklet comprises of an exhaustive list of names of students staff faculty departments and which are accompanied with their respective addresses phone numbers. Replete with many advertisements by sponsoring local business merchants. Introductory messages from the Dean various other heads of departments as well as invitations and introductions by the various heads of student clubs bus schedules from the Winnipeg Electric Company and much more. Light wear to the covers neat period ink name to the upper-margin of the rear covers contents remain bright clean and unmarked with tight sound binding; fine. Scarce with no known extant copies available in commerce at time of cataloguing. Not found in Peel BAC/LAC University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections.
