A paper portfolio containing thirteen 8 1/2" x 11" single sheets (some printed on both sides), each with a weaving pattern using any discarded or new textiles by thirteen weavers, and an introductory pamphlet. The projects included are Rag Rugs, Rag Weave, Rugs, Bath Mat, Bags, Skirt, Vests, Kimono Jacket, Vest made from Jeans, and Table Mats. The folder shows edge wear and some creases and closes with a button and thread style fastener. Previous owner's name on cover. No date given - circa 1985.
Book is in excellent condition. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Unpaginated, about 80 pages, each with a b&w photo and text. Contents include In the beginning: geological origins and rural traditions of the Pennines; Domestic calm before industrial storm: the domestic textile industry; Early mills and improveed machines; from weavers cottage to powered mill; The great industrial revolution : muck and brass; Twenteith century changes: one more chapter in teh Pennine saga.
