"In some of the most dangerous mines in the world, fortunes were made and hundreds of lives were lost. The origins of the present volatile labour climate in British Columbia can be seen in the long and frustrating fight for a union which began in the 1850s and ended eighty years later in Nanaimo when management finally recognized the United Mind Workers of America just six weeks before the largest mine on the Island closed forever. This lively presentation combines archival footage with the reminiscences of retired miners." - from cover. Please note: This is a VHS video tape which appears to be circa 1980s. Book
