Large works all approx. 19" x 12"; smaller 12.5" x 9". With a large 17" x 12" spiral-bound artist's notebook containing eight additional color studies plus one sketch. Also includes 18 other loose preliminary works various sizes and media - including one brief series of Shakespearean costume design. Most SIGNED by the artist. Generally very good or better overall. <br/><br/>Lovely selection of original fashion art depicting various women's runway dresses all ca. 1955. We have been unable to discover much about the artist Mr. Leigh. But he was clearly an accomplished designer colorist and draftsman. We do know he was based in New York City and assume given the professional skill with which these works were executed that he likely worked in the industry either for a designer or a fashion magazine. The portraits themselves are quintessentially post-war in their style and taste clearly indebted to VOGUE and their artists. A beautiful primary collection of 1950s high fashion. unknown books

Illustrations show the students at various tasks at the school using industrial sewing machines learning drafting modeling fabric design & the formal showing of the finished pieces. Approx. 9" x 12" size with cloth textile covered boards; various sections of the book divided with yellow paper half-sheets giving title of the sections and some illustrated. The graduates section gives portrait photos of the women and men with their educational focus - millinery design management apparel design and textile design. With a map-plan of the school. Advertisements section at back mostly from the fashion textiles industry. Light edge tips wear bumping a little soiling to the binding; contents clean and in very good condition. First Printing.
