Original card wrappers printed in orange, blue, and purple, respectively. In about fine condition. Excellent set. ~ Extremely rare first edition. The work appeared here as complete in itself and did not have the designation "I. Teil" on the cover. This appeared for the first in the second edition when an expansion of the work into 3 volumes have been in progress. The present volume differs from those of later editions. The cover has different announcement on the inside and the first 2 plates, those on pages 4-5 are uncoloured line-drawing of uniforms. In later editions these 2 plates were also lithographed in colour as the rest of the plates. The entire book is printed on older paper and the lithography is evidently different than this of later editions. [INCLUDES:] Extremely rare printer's note "Während des Druckes befohlene Änderung" is tipped-in, specifying last-moment changes in colour regulations: The dress of the Leib-Garde-Husaren-Rgt. appeared here still in the old regulation of red while alreday at time of printing it was changed to grey - too late to be corrected!
