This particular copy comes from the bequest of renowned uniform historian and researcher Dr. Pieter Roelse and includes, loosely inserted, a number of newspaper and magazine clips and photographs related to the book's subject, some of which are uncommon.

Original wrappers, cover lettered in red, gold relief, bit browned, foot of spine chipped, cover illustration has been removed. In fine internal condition. ~ Published to coincide with the exhibition held in July 1956. Nice illustrations, historical and contemporary, as well as a source of authentic commercial advertisements.

The beautifull cards were printed in chromolithography, a process which yielded a much more delicate result than later, mechanical processes.
