With 48 tinted lithograph illustrations throughout the text. Hardcover, bound in the original publisher's cloth-backed boards, colour lithograph plate on cover, lettering embossed on spine; cover finger soiled, chipped, corner-tips chafed, inner hinges cracked but a nice copy in the original illustrated binding and with very good plates often with discreet repairs to verso for splits at folds. ~ First edition. With Knötel's wonderful illustrations of uniformed men of the various corps of several European armies.
