Hardcover, uniformly bound in the original publisher's full cloth with very good pictorial dust-jacket with just few blemishes. Both volumes are in fine condition. Excellent set. ~ First edition. This particular set comes from the bequest of renowned uniform historian and researcher Dr. Pieter Roelse and includes, loosely inserted, a number of rare period newspaper and magazine photographs related to the book's subject, extracts from manuals on Italian military uniforms, etc. Many of these clippings correspond directly to illustrations in the book and enhance image and word, providing extra, useful reference. It should be noted that this material, the result of a lifelong research, study, and collection is provided herewith strictly as-is, gratuitous, and subject to what is physically present in the book.

Earlier version was printed in 1948 with different text. Scarce.
No marks or inscriptions. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards, slight bumping to spine ends and no bumping to corners. Dust jacket not price clipped or marked or torn or creased with minor traces of handling. At one time Jacob Reed’s Sons was the oldest uniform manufacturing firm in the U.S. and focused on providing tailored uniforms with colourful fabrics which held their shape with heavy use. Fitted theatre & hotel jackets in white with double rows of buttons theatre usher uniforms in brown & maroon and some provided in a blue-gray West Point braided blouse to provide extra authority.
