Requesting an art donation from Mr. Hockney for their upcoming auction the letter reads in part: "Dear David: Arts Umbrella Vancouver's visual and performing art centre is now entering its second decade but we can not do it alone. We need your help. Each year Arts Umbrella hosts at its Granville Island centre a gala art auction dinner and dance entitled "Splash" - We would be very honoured if you would support Splash.
