1954012152NY: E. P. Dutton 1954. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Memoir of the Italian-born priestess of fashion Else Schiaperelli 1890- 1973 known chicly as "Schiap". All the swells entered her orbit - Lady Mendle Garbo Gloria Swanson Picasso Dali et al. Schiap's inscription - in her broad flowing almost indecipherable script in brown ink on the free front endpaper - indeed harkens back to a swell time: "To Kay Lawrence for a delightful hour at 21 N.Y. Elsa Schiaperlli" referring presumably to cocktails at 21 Club on 52nd Street in Manhattan which fell victim to the Covid economy in mid December 2020. Kay Lawrence was a Manhattan-based journalist perhaps on assignment for the publication of Schiap's book. She served as President of the Newswomen's Club of New York from 1960-61. Black cloth covers have a moderately worn lower right corner otherwise unblemished with shocking pink stamped titles front and spine. In unclipped dustjacket with light wear spine tips and edges here and there. Book shows little if any signs of having been read. Illustrated with b&w photographs. THE collectible copy. E. P. Dutton hardcover books
