197117438South San Francisco: Man-Root 1971. Paperback. 96p. 6.25x9.25 inches very good first edition booklet in stapled pictorial wraps. Gay poetry journal. Gay poetry and prose. Man-Root paperback books
1969184960South San Francisco: Man-Root 1969. Pamphlet. 66p. mimeographed text on construction paper self-wraps tinted marigold yellow; we came into several copies some saddle-stitched some simply nested with no stapling. These have no cardstock wrapper though the outermost leaf credits one Alan Blackman for "cover" presumably for cover artwork. A peculiar format possibly a cheap pre-publication trial balloon; this outermost leaf does double-duty as Table of Contents and gives mailing address volume number and price as well as Blackman's credit-line. FYI all later issues are printed on alkaline stock and have decorated cardstock cover-wrappers. This item like later numbers is 7x8.5 inches in size and is very well-preserved with faintest edgewear; a near-fine copy of the first edition or a pre-pub. Gay poetry journal. Man-Root unknown books

Watercolor signed "Joel D. Barber / New York 1928" lower right. 1 vols. 11-1/2 x 18-3/4 in. framed to 16 x 22-1/2 in. overall. Fine 1928 Original Duck Decoy Watercolor by Joel Barber. A fine large rendering very much reduced in the Derrydale Press and Windward House editions of Barber's classic book. It shows "a Stevens Widgeon . In this decoy the painting is original and still shows the work of a 'graining comb' on the back." The watercolor execution is meticulous.<br/><br/>Inscribed verso: "Amer. Widgeon Baldpate / No detailed history - just used in Currituck Sound North Carolina / the Currituck Club. / Reproduced through the Courtesy of H.F. Stone Esq. of New York 1928. / Note-- Undoubtedly a machine made decoy of the Eighties - a product of some early northern factory possibly a Stevens - Weedsport / Joel."<br/><br/>A UNIQUE AND HIGHLY DESIRABLE DERRYDALE DUCK RENDERING.
