Scroll illustrated with black and white ink drawings. 54.8 x 389.5cm <br> <br>Some browning and staining but largely the sheets are clean some small tears with loss at edges. A delightful collection. This evocative and varied collection offers insight into Japanese garden design and botanical study during the late Edo period. The delicate hand-coloured scroll of plum blossoms and maples demonstrates both aesthetic sensitivity and horticultural interest with varieties carefully named. The bamboo studies are nice exercises in brush technique while the panoramic scroll of a garden landscape stretching nearly four metres offers a rare visual impression of spatial planning and garden flow.
