Signed by both of the founders of the National Musem of American Illustration to their friend Myra Janco Daniels. Signed "For Myra Daniels - A national walking American Treasure! with our love and best wishes always. Laurence & Judy" on the title-page. Accompanied by a lengthy card from the Cutler's and two letters ALS from the young grandchildren of Laurence and Judy Cutler whom the book is dedicated to. Maxfield Parrish's images achieved remarkable popularity and critical acclaim when they appeared on the covers of countless periodicals and books making him the most celebrated illustrator of the first half of the 20th century as well as incredibly famous and immensely wealthy. A splendid association copy from the collection of Daniels the Founder of the Naples Philharmonic and Art Museum. <br /> <br /> Myra Janco Daniels 1925-2022 founder and CEO of the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts. Myra was also 1965 Advertising Woman of the Year and wife of Draper Daniels the adman who created "The Marlboro Man" and the basis for "Don Draper" on AMC's Madmen TV show. At the age of 25 Myra started her own advertising business in Terre Haute Indiana which was later purchased by Draper Daniels. She was a longtime collaborator of Draper's and together the couple achieved amazing success in the world of advertising in the mid-20th Century. In retirement Myra founded the Naples Philharmonic Center and created a world class art museum which she led for over 20 years. Giving a slight nod to Charles Lindbergh the Pulitzer Prize-Winning author A. Scott Berg once dubbed Myra "The Spirit of Naples.". The Wellfleet Press hardcover

Colour-illustrated boards in blue gilt & black metallic gold pastedowns & flyleaves plastic comb-binding as issued light foxing & edgewear to a couple leaves minor edgewear to covers slight bumping to couple corners still a VG copy. First edition signed of this exceedingly scarce preview volume offering an artist’s & architect’s rendering excursion through the forthcoming Art Deco marvels of the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition held on Treasure Island in San Francisco. Roberts & Roberts and Gabriel Moulin were the official photographers and the Chesley Bonestell birds-eye panorama featured in much of the promotional artwork for the fair grace the pages. Celebrating the completion of the iconic bridge as well as drawing from the $ 6250000.00 in funds from the WPA & PWA New Deal programs the 400 acre site was actually to have become the San Francisco Air Terminal but those plans were derailed by World War II. Dimensions: 50 x 61 cm.<br /> Published in the 'Atlas maritimus & commercialis: or a General View of the World so far as Relates to Trade & Navigation'.<br />The Atlas maritimus can be used as an index of English trading activity at this period since detailed insets and harbour plans emphasise those areas of greatest commercial significance.<br />Although the author of the text is anonymous Daniel Defoe is thought to have contributed to it and Halley the Astronomer-Royal added a prefatory note discussing the use of the charts; it is therefore sometimes catalogued under his name. It has also been attributed to Harris Senex and Wilson those name appears on one chart. Senex was certainly responsible for one of the atlas's innovations the globular chart of Western Europe whose projection according to the title-page was "authorized by letters patent".<br />The atlas was purely commercial and was not a real rival to the 'English Pilot': unlike the Pilot it compressed global coverage into one book as well as describing the the south and west coast of America omitted by the former.<br /> [J. & J.
