A pictu Horticultural Society of New York Catalogue p. 189. Catalogue of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society 268. Robinson was "the most famous and controversial gardening journalist of the nineteenth century" (Hugh Johnson). This is the second book published by the author, who has been called the father of English gardening. This work helped to establish his reputation. Many of his later works had roots in this work. Beautifully illustrated, with views and plans of Paris, plants, gardens, tools, prining arrangements, etc. Mea Allen p. 95.

Contiene, oltre alle due opere del titolo: Estratto delle relazioni accademiche dell’abate Melchior Cesarotti; Il giardino inglese descritto da Ippolito Pindemonte nel poemetto de’ sepolcri e la traduzione latina di quello, fatta da Benedetto Del Bene; e una Lettera all’editore, sempre di Pindemonte. Una macchia grande come mezza moneta al margine inferiore bianco delle prime tre carte (forse caffè); peraltro uno splendido esemplare, fresco e in barbe. Seconda edizione.

In-8 broché (16,5 x 25,5 cm), 74 pages. 13 eaux-fortes en parfait état, sous serpentes. Ouvrage truffé d'une LETTRE MANUSCRITE DE L'AUTEUR (Frédéric Henriet), SIGNÉE ET DATÉE (8 mars 1894), qui évoque Cassagne (il s'agit probablement du peintre Armand Cassagne (1823-1907)) Également truffé d'une EAUX-FORTE SUPPLÉMENTAIRE DE LHERMITTE, cette eaux-fortes étant présente dans la seconde version de cet ouvrage parue 10 ans plus tard, en 1876. Quelques menues fentes au dos, coiffes légèrement usagées, mais très bon état. Aucune piqûre sur les eaux-fortes, qui sont en excellent état.
