Day after day she must pump and lug pail upon pail of water until her back is about ready to break and life has become just a source of constant drudgery.†Founded originally in 1839 when Paine and Caldwell began building wooden pumps Seabury Gould cast the first all-iron pump in 1849 and with the emergence of canals in New York State wuickly seized the opportunities for Goulds Pumps for wells windmills filling steam engines and by the 1930’s grew to be the world’s largest pump manufacturer.
