L'auteur est Benito Maria de Moxo, le dernier archevêque espagnol de Charcas, né à Cervera, et mort jeune, peu de temps après la révolution des colonies du Sud. Le baron de Juras Reales était son neveu, et il eut l'indélicatesse de ne point nommer son oncle en publiant cet ouvrage comme étant le sien. Dans une dédicace pompeuse, il dit avoir été prisonnier pendant 6 ans, et c'est pendant cette captivité qu'il se serait donné à l'étude et aurait rassemblé les matériaux de cette publication. Le livre est des plus intéressants pour l'histoire des indiens et des antiquités américaines. Il est divisé en 14 dissertations, accompagnées de notes, parmi lesquelles nous citerons les suivantes comme particulièrement précieuses pour les mœurs et anciennes coutumes Curieuses dissertations sur la musique indienne… sur les sacrifices humains…sur l'écriture hiéroglyphique des indiens…sur une ancienne peinture des Tarascos…sur un fait particulier à Colomb et un parallèle de la mort de lord… avec celle de Cortés… sur le nom de Fortunès donné par les anciens aux Canaries. Cette planche, extraite de la publication "Quelques Idées..", présente deux modèles de la maison Bernard & Cie : "Petit Potin" (une robe d'après-midi en georgette garnie de ganses) et "Féline" (une robe de georgette vert garnie de broderies faites au point turc). Le dessin est caractéristique du style Art Déco avec des silhouettes longilignes et des coupes "garçonne". Planche originale en bon état.

Les modèles, encadrant un oranger stylisé, illustrent parfaitement le style Art Déco avec leurs silhouettes longilignes et leurs coiffures à la garçonne. Planche en bon état.

Finely printed plate facsimiles of paintings and sculptures exhibited make up most of the book. Text is in English being translated from the French by Paul Villars. AQ28607s.i.: s.n. 1885-86 45 leaves 23 used the remainder blank. Later limp black cloth. Extremities worn. Internally clean and crisp. Armorial bookplates of Peter Campbell and Charles William Orde loosely inserted. A late eighteenth-century manuscript inventory in a single legible hand recording the silver plate gold plate and china at the estate of the Campbell-Orde baronets Kilmory House Argyll. The majority of the plate is registered by the chest in which it was housed one marked as the property of Royal Navy officer Admiral Sir John Orde 1751-1824 another as belonging to the second baronet Sir John Powlett Orde 1803-1878 who following the death of both his wife and father-in-law inherited Kilmory. Orde rebuilt the house in a Gothic style to a design by architect Joseph Gordon Davis and remodelled the grounds with the aid of William Jackson Hooker. He was succeeded by his son Sir John William Powlett Orde 1827-1897 who in 1880 obtained Royal Licence to assume the surname of Campbell- Orde.
