8vo., First Edition, with frontispiece in photogravure (original tissue guard present), title in blue and black, 79 sepia-toned plates, several musical notations, maps and diagrams in the text, free endpapers moderately browned; original buff cloth, upper board with frame border in brown, backstrip blocked and lettered in brown, red top, covers lightly dust-soiled, backstrip faded (but all lettering just legible) else a very good, clean copy. Rice's third work on carillons and the most extended in coverage. Although produced by an eminent publisher, the UK edition is curiously scarce; its US counterpart is commonplace by comparison. Rice was the first author to document in English the history and techniques of carillon music; this is arguably his most important work. EXTREMELY SCARCE.
