Nicola Sugar 1897 in Subotic Voivodina - 15.5.1945 Ghetto Theresienstadt "wurde am 25.8.1897 in Subotic Voivodina als Sohn von Kaufleuten geboren studierte - da er wegen des Numerus clausus für jüdische Studenten in Budapest nicht zugelassen war in Prag Medizin. 1924-25 machte er in Berlin eine Analyse bei Felix Böhm ging danach Wien und wurde noch 1925 Mitglieder der Wiener Vereinigung und übersiedelte 1927 nach Subotica wo er als Psychoanalytiker praktizierte. Er war einer der Pioniere der Psychoanalyse in Jugoslawien. 1936 wurde er Lehranalytiker und ein Jahr später ging er nach Belgrad um dort mit Stjepan Betlheim eine psychoanalytische Gruppe zu gründen. Die Belgrader Arbeitsgemeinschaft traf sich zuerst an der Philosophischen Fakultät der Universität und später nachdem ihr dies verboten wurde privat bei Sugar. Er ging nach dem Bombardement Belgrads 1941 als Lehranalytiker wieder zurück nach Subotica das unter ungarischer Besatzung stand und von wo er 1944 zuerst in ein österreichisches Arbeitslager dann nach Bergen-Belsen und anschließend ins Ghetto Theresienstadt deportiert wurde.
