A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards and no bumping to corners. 59pp. In the 1850s there were around 150 licensed houses in Middleton between Manchester and Rochdale. By the date of this book, the number had dropped to less than sixty. This study tells the story of some of these. Illustrated. Scarce.
