After struggling for a decade and a half with often- pseudonymous television writing and commercial work in 1969 he wrote the award- winning screenplay for MIDNIGHT COWBOY. Subsequent credits included SERPICO THE DAY OF THE LOCUST and COMING HOME. In 1987 just prior to his death he received the WGA Laurel Award in recognition of his achievements. This building was completed in 1915 at a cost of $2000000. At the left in the background you can see a part of rounded Ensign Peak so named because it was here the American flag was first raised on Mexican soil. This territory was not ceded to the United States until 1848. Temple Square the area in the foreground is a ten-acre tract which contains the famous Mormon Temple the Tabernacle and the Assembly Hall. The Temple is the massive granite structure at the right.
