1929145931Culver City CA: MGM 1929. Post-Production Dialogue Cutting Continuity script for the 1930 film. Small holograph pencil notation to the front wrapper. <br/><br/>Based on S. S. Van Dine's Philo Vance detective series. At an archery range a dead body is found shot through the heart with only a chess bishop left as a clue. In later years Basil Rathbone would take on another well-known detective role in the 1939 "Sherlock Holmes" series. This film however constituted his debut and only performance as the rather more stylish New York investigator.<br/><br/>White titled wrappers noted as Dialogue Cutting Continuity on the front wrapper rubber-stamped copy No. 1739 and production No. 75160 dated Dec. 19 1929 with credits for film editor William Le Vanway. Title page integral to the front wrapper. 75 leaves with last page of text numbered Reel 9 Page 7. Mimeographed rectos only.
