New Testament title in red and black lettering. <br /> <br /> This delightful 17th-century edition of the New Testament was translated into French from the Latin vulgate. It contains a splendid engraved frontispiece by Belgian Biblical illustrator Jean-Baptiste de Champagne 1631-1681 and a preface in two parts.<br /> <br /> The New Testament is bound with the Epistles of St. Paul; the Canonical Epistles and The Apocalypse. The title page of this second book is dated 1667.<br /> <br /> Front board detached but present. Spine heavily rubbed with gold tooling and lettering partly faded. Previous owner's inscription in Latin dated 1681 on inside of front cover. Front free endpaper partly chipped. Minor and sporadic foxing throughout. Contemporary inscription in ink along fore-edge of page 358 not affecting lettering. Text in French. Binding in overall poor interior in good to very good condition. Gaspard Migeot hardcover
