Unbumped spine head and tail and sharp corners. Exceptionally clean binding. Text block firmly bound in and quite tight. With 156 numbered pages on matte stock. Very slight and even page yellowing not affecting the integrity of the illustrations. With numerous B&W illustrations throughout some full page. With the very hard to find first issue dust jacket. The full-pictorial DJ is almost fully intact if age-yellowed; minor chipping at the spine head and tail. Not price-clipped. DJ with a clear protective Mylar covering. Gently read. Dalí was a skilled draftsman best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. Haakon M. Chevalier specialized in translating from French into English. He translated works by Dalí André Malraux Vladimir Pozner Louis Aragon Frantz Fanon and Victor Vasarely into English. The slipcase is rubbed and soiled with short tears to the edges. 74 & 1 pages illustrated with a tipped-in portrait frontispiece by Halsman and 27 tipped-in color plates of Dali's jewelry with descriptive text on the facing page. The plate opposite page 52 is torn and creased along its right edge. Good. <p>Inscribed and signed on the front endpaper by Owen Cheatham the owner of the collection.<p>Laid in with the book is the 12-page exhibition catalog with a descriptive index of the jewels.
