Réfractaires dans l’âme mais ultra réactifs, ses collaborateurs qui, pour la plupart, ont une longue expérience littéraire derrière eux, combattent les maîtres à penser en faveur vers 1950 et les gloires qu’ils jugent usurpées. Quo Vadis donne carrière à une génération de poètes et de critiques qui n’est pas celle de la « modernité » à la mi-temps du siècle. Quo Vadis prétend ne pas se mêler de politique. Elle s’y risque pourtant avec assiduité en critiquant les prises de positions des intellectuels, surtout lorsqu’elles voisinent avec le communisme, ou l’hyprocisie. La revue de Jacques-Louis Aubrun, issue de la Résistance, affiche une certaine cohérence : elle s’ouvre en 1947 avec un réquisitoire contre l’action de De Gaulle au pouvoir et se referme en 1958, redoutant son retour".
