br. L'oblio è il nulla? No. Il nulla non ha forma, mentre l'oblio è circolare. Le nuvole dell'Oculo della Camera degli Sposi, dipinta da Andrea Mantegna nel Castello di San Giorgio a Mantova, sono il punto di partenza di un intimo dialogo fra John e Katya Berger, padre e figlia che osservano gli affreschi della Camera Picta. Ne nasce un percorso personale all'interno dell'opera pittorica di Mantegna, nell'infinita complessità del reale che vi è rappresentata e nella vicenda artistica e umana che la sottende. Dietro le tende dipinte che svelano e nascondono un paesaggio dipinto, tutto è rivelato e tutto è nascosto dalla pittura. Nella Camera degli Sposi ogni dettaglio è rappresentato da Mantegna attraverso una prospettiva spaziale sorprendente, inseparabile da una prospettiva temporale profondamente umanistica. La sua passione per lo scorcio è infatti indissolubile dalla sua devozione per i modelli dell'antichità classica. Nei propri affreschi, Mantegna osserva e aggrega minuziosamente l'infinito numero di eventi e di istanti che costituiscono il mondo come il botanico raccoglie un esemplare di tutte le piante che incontra. Nell'Oculo propone di dissolversi nella totalità che ha creato, dimenticando ogni cosa per raggiungere l'essenza di ciò che rimane, chiudendo gli occhi e abbandonandosi all'oblio. Questo volume è pubblicato in occasione di Festivaletteratura 2010 di Mantova.
