Stanley M.D." also there is a note in the owner's hand on P. viii of the Preface indicating the address of the nursery owned by Mr. Gibbs who is mentioned there in the preface. Otherwise clean and tight in original cloth binding with printed title label at spine; label is roned and rubbed cloth at spine has a couple splits but binding quite secure. Notably the section on the Private Brewery was not included in the early editions of this classic work on animal husbandry and bee-keeping and according to the pPreface this is the first edition to include information on British wine making 45 pp. The author addresses this topic in two ways. First "the extensive and fraudful adulteration of foreign Wines in too many instances attended with fatal effects." Secondly with respect to domestic substitutes "consideration as to the most perfect mode of their manufacture" including management of casks fermentation the wine press Painshill water addition private family recipes etc. A nice example of this scarce book in the contemporary cloth binding. .
