Scarce. 4 pp.The Perls Gallery in New York was founded in 1937 by Klaus Gunther Perls 1912-2008 and his brother Franz R. Perls1910-1975 after having worked at their mother's Galerie Kate Perls in Paris. Following his marriage to Amelia Blumenthal of Philadelphia in 1940 Klaus and Amelia B. Perls jointly ran the gallery. They specialized in modern French painting while Franz established the Frank Perls Gallery in Beverly Hills He originally dealt in works by Maurice Utrillo Maurice de Vlaminck and Raoul Dufy that his mother sent from Paris until the Nazi occupation. When she was forced to flee France he began dealing in now little known contemporary American artists including Darrel Austin and in Mexican and South American art such as Mario Carreno. After the war Klaus again dealt in French art from the School of ParisArtists in the Perls' stable included Rouault Picasso Léger Derain Dufy Matisse Modigliani Pascin Soutine and Vlaminck. Jacques Sarlie 1915 -1988 had one of the largest private collections of Picasso in the US having established a personal acquaintance with Picasso in France when he was stationed there in the US Army in WWII. Picasso was one of the few individuals to whom Picasso sold his work directly. In his Manhattan apartment had nearly two dozen Picassos plus important work by other French artists. This brochure was for a private showing at his home at 455 East 57th Street to benefit the Scholarship Fund of the Radclliffe College Fund of New York. One sheet folded vertically once printed cover and then photoset typed list of all the art in his home listed clockwise by rooms and hallways by artist titlle then date of the work. The brochure is undated but we assume it proiceeds a photo-article of his the collection in his resiudnece in Vogue March 1956. privately printed 0 unknown books

Note historique: Un des premiers livres sur Picasso, publié par la galerie "Cahiers d'Art" fondée cette même année. L'ouvrage est illustré de 4 reproductions de dessins dans le texte et de 42 planches, dont 2 en couleurs, reproduisant des œuvres de Picasso des années 1920-1926. La gravure accompagnant ce tirage de luxe, "Femme au fauteuil", fait partie d'une série réalisée en 1922-1923 dans laquelle les lignes superposées donnent à voir les figures à la fois de face et de profil.
