197760661bdFallbrook California: Aero Publishers Inc. 1977. Quarto navy blue leatherette hardcover gilt letter 432 pp. Former-owner bookplate; otherwise Fine in a Good mylar protected dust jacket with light foxing and edgewear that includes chipping. From dust jacket: Fighter Aces of the Luftwaffe is the full story of Germany’s fighter pilots in World War II -- their smashing victories their bitter defeats and their betrayal by their country’s leaders. The German aces of World War II with their devotion to their country their seemingly unquenchable courage tenacity and skill in the face of overwhelming Allied power emerge as unsurpassed by any of the great warriors of history. They leap to life again in these pages as some of the greatest fighter aces of all time take the reader right into the very vortex of aerial combat -- telling their stories in their own words. Thrilling as these battle accounts are this book does not end with gripping action in the air. Deeper factors influencing the Luftwaffe fighter force are unveiled. These elements are then interwoven with the combat consequences of these politices and decisions -- as they directly affected the men who flew. The result is an objective study of modern history told in human terms by the men who lived through these events. Aero Publishers, Inc., (1977). hardcover books
