No writing or underlining of text - all pages are clean and unmarked. Book is concerned with the changes in religious thought and institutions from the late eleventh century to the third quarter of the twelfth. It concentrates on monks and nuns but also takes into consideration hermits recluses wandering preachers crusaders penitents and other less organized forms of religious life. In particular it studies the variety of reform movements the relation of the reformers to each other and the outside world and their spirituality and motivation as reflected in their writings and activities. The book that Constable has provided is a goldmine from which many of us can find the gold we seek - The Medieval Review. From the library of Professor Ilene Forsyth professor emerita and alumna of the University of Michigan and a published author as well. Her husband George Forsyth was chairman of the art history department at Michigan from 1947 to 1961 when he became director of the university's Kelsey Museum of Archeology. While the author a New Zealand native postulates that UFOs are in fact biological entities-- so-called macrobacteria invisible floating "critters" in the sky-- in this his first work he also employs occult techniques like channeling and clairvoyance.
