*********************************************** São Paulo, Sociedade Construtora Heleno & Fonseca S.A., undated (circa 1968). Of note: a page on Assis de Chateaubriand, nicknamed "Chatô", media and art magnate whose efforts ushered the creation of the museum. "The São Paulo Museum of Art - Assis Chateaubriand is a museum located on Paulista Avenue facing Trianon Park in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. One of the most important cultural centers in the country, the museum is known for its bold brutalist architecture, making it one of the city's icons. A private non-profit institution, the museum is notable for its extraordinary collection, acquired since its founding in 1947. Recognized worldwide for its quality and diversity, the MASP collection is considered the most important of Western art in Latin America, with works that span from classical antiquity to contemporary art. It has occupied its current location since 1968 in a building designed by Lina Bo Bardi and Antoine Pruvost." (Wikipedia) Although the museum mostly specializes in contemporary art, it has also occasionally exhibited paintings by Toulouse-Lautrec, Manet, Van Gogh, Renoir and Cézane.
