In "Miró", Penrose analizza le fasi del percorso artistico dell'amico in un racconto che si estende per 140 illustrazioni. Da grande estimatore, promotore e collezionista d'arte, l'autore disegna l'evoluzione dell'artista Joan Miró da una pittura strettamente legata alle origini contadine, nella quale lo stile è influenzato dal ritmo della tradizione popolare, a un'arte più rivolta alla fuga dalla realtà, segnata dal decisivo passaggio a uno stile astratto. Fu proprio questo nuovo approccio che consentì a Miró di ridisegnare il mondo: un approccio surrealista secondo cui i prodotti della fantasia devono essere considerati parte della realtà.
