Volume two bound in black cloth with gilt lettering on spine and white title label on front board. Slight shelfwear and discoloration to tail of spine. Paintings tipped in throughout textblock. Bumping to fore-edges of both volumes. Lacking issued slip case. Textblocks clean. Shelved in Case 11. According to the limitation page "this edition of Francisco de Goya's 'Disasters of War' has been reproduced from the album of proof impressions assembled by the artist for Juan Agustín Ceán Bermúdez now held in the British Museum." Previous reproductions have consisted of 82 illustrations but this one has all 85 along with commentary by Mark McDonald former Curator in Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum and now with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. According to McDonald Goya's 'Disasters of Wars' is öne of the most remarkable representations of conflict where Goya addresses the reasons for war and explores its consequences." 1370362.
