Good ex-library. the bindings are in excellent condition but the volumes are scrapbooks and all items were pasted in with glue. furthermore the mounting paper is acidic and has become quite brittle. as a result many of the programs are wavy from the paste are toned from the paper or have edgewear. still it's a very interesting and unique collection. 4 volumes. Black library buckram in black library slipcases. Not paginated. Oversize and quite bulky. The title for these volumes is merely descriptive as they were not formally published. They are nicely bound scrapbooks containing of newspaper clippings advertisements and handbills and programs for a variety of concerts and performances chiefly in New York City. The contents were collected by Louis Raphael Dressler an organist conductor occasional composer and a charter member of the Manuscript Society who was also very active in the New York music scene for over 50 years. This would be a great one of a kind collection for researchers or connoisseurs interested in New York's music and theatrical milieu or performing artists and arts organizations during the years listed. hardcover books

Unbound<br/> <br/>A very fine suite of richly hand-coloured plates offering a stunning visual record of one of the best of the decorative interior schemes carried out by Raphael in Rome.<br/> <br/>This wonderful series records Raphael's 'Cupid and Psyche' series of frescoes carried out by him between 1516 and 1518 in the Loggia of Psyche in the villa Farnesina in Rome. The series also comes with a title and an eleventh plate of the ceiling fresco in the adjoining Sala di Galatea executed in 1512: neither the plate nor the title are present here. Originally published by the Rossis the engravings are the work of Nicolas Dorigny 1658-1746 who lived and worked in Rome between about 1690 and 1719. Puerto Rico 1911-1980 considered the most important exponent of muralism in Puerto Rico although an artist of wide spectrum. Rios Rey started his artistic career in 1939 and with government support he traveled to Mexico during the 1960s where he studied the Mexican muralists and was strongly impressed by the narrative quality of the mural. I believe this was the first and may still be the only full-length book about the artist published in English.
