Contains 68 plates of engraved monograms late 19th century designed & engraved by H. Renoir58 rue Nve.St. Augustin Paris and printed by Sarazin Paris. All letters of the alphabet are depicted in all possible combinations two or three plates a letter 1 plate of general monograms. H. Renoir is Pierre-Henri Renoir 1832-1903 an engraver of gems who had published several works on engraving and design. He was the elder brother of impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir. In fact the first time Zola saw a painting by Auguste Renoir he thought it was by his older brother Henri. Uncommon sample book. hardcover

Robert Miquel journalist and French chronicler of the unusual kept a shop at 15 rue de Seine immortalized by Robert Doisneau in his series La Vitrine de Romi. We have not been able to find any copies of this photograph in any of the international public collections. Bingham unknown
