Edgar Degas 1834-1917 has long been considered one of the greatest of the French impressionists especially concerning the female body in movement which is given a masterful homage in this intriguing volume. Degas did many monotypes "and in many cases he applied pastel over the ghost version to create a finished piece." <br/><br/>Charles Hobson's own masterful pastel and photogravures of the female nude having a self-proclaimed "lifelong influence" by Degas are given a loving home beside Degas' words. The text was selected from letters and other material his words are not only printed typographically on pages facing the plates but overlaid in Degas' actual handwriting to the copper images created by Hobson. <br/><br/>___DESCRIPTION: Original quarter rust-red cloth with Degas' handwriting in facsimile to the cloth in black hand painted paper covered boards illustrated with a reproduction of a Degas drawing all edges uncut concertina binding eight photogravures; BFK Rives paper Meridien type quarto size 11.5" by 7.75" unpaginated 19 pp. limited edition of 45 copies this number 35 signed to each plate and to the colophon by Charles Hobson.
