Florentine by birth and education, he was chiefly active in Arezzo. Following the numerous commissions which he received there he was soon backed by a workshop whose most prolific member, Domenico Pecori, continued to execute the commissions given him after the master?s death by the city of Arezzo and its neighbouring communities. 2330 gr. xvi-442 p.

At the end of the poet's inscription and next to Sam Hamill's signature the signature of editor/publisher/calligrapher Tree Swenson is also present "& Tree" is in her hand: "To ______ Happy 40th! with love from Sam & Tree." Hamill and Swenson were co-founders of the influential Copper Canyon Press a nonprofit independent poetry publisher that "believes poetry is vital to language and living." Copper Canyon was founded in 1972 in Denver CO and moved to Port Townsend WA in 1974. Tree Swenson was also the Executive Director of the Academy of American Poets from 2002 to 2012. American poet and translator Sam Hamill 1943–2018 published poetry collections taught in prisons and founded Poets Against the War a movement to protest the 2003 Iraq invasion.<br /> <br /> The artist's inscription reads: "To ______ with Great Regards love Galen."
