Each volume very clean outside and completely clean inside. Text in French. Published in 4 parts between 1958 and 1961, this is the standard catalogue of the Louvre's collection of 19th Century French paintings. Edited by Charles Sterling. Volume I (A-C): 496 black & white reproductions followed by 36 pages of catalogue descriptions. Volume II (D-G): 549 black & white reproductions + 8 full-page color plates, followed by 44 pages of descriptions. Volume III (H-O): 406 black & white reproductions + 8 full-page color platess followed by 33 pages of descriptions and an errata slip for the first 3 volumes. Volume IV (P-Z): 575 black & white reproductions + 8 full-page color plates, followed by 135 pages of text including descriptions, errata for all volumes, indices, concordences, addenda, etc. The volumes were published between 1958 and 1961. 11" high X 8" wide.
