The inscriptions are addressed to a noted Pacific Northwest poet and collector. 43pp. Quarto 29cm; sewn in full black cloth covered boards with small design blind stamped on the front board and title stamped in gold on the spine. Illustrated dust jacket. Some light shelf- and edge-wear to the dust jacket. A nice poetry/art book with a neat association. At the end of the poet's inscription and next to Sam Hamill's signature the signature of editor/publisher/calligrapher Tree Swenson is also present "& Tree" is in her hand: "To ______ Happy 40th! with love from Sam & Tree." Hamill and Swenson were co-founders of the influential Copper Canyon Press a nonprofit independent poetry publisher that "believes poetry is vital to language and living." Copper Canyon was founded in 1972 in Denver CO and moved to Port Townsend WA in 1974. Tree Swenson was also the Executive Director of the Academy of American Poets from 2002 to 2012. American poet and translator Sam Hamill 1943–2018 published poetry collections taught in prisons and founded Poets Against the War a movement to protest the 2003 Iraq invasion.<br /> <br /> The artist's inscription reads: "To ______ with Great Regards love Galen."
