A neat contemporary gift inscription ink to the front free end-paper otherwise VG indeed. In the rare pictorial near fine dustwrapper priced 7/6 net to the spine. The dustwrapper is complete with just a hint of rubbing to the extremities hardly worth mentioning. The rear panel of the dustwrapper has numerous quotations from critics including Dennis Wheatley where surprisingly the Author is referred to as a man. The Author's books are rare in dustwrappers and sought-after by collectors. NB; the author's real name was Dorothy Grace Waring. She was an English Fascist Campaigner in Northern Ireland and in 1938-1939 was a Committee Member of 'The Link' a pro-Nazi organisation promoting Anglo-German friendship. A woodblock print of Mrs Siddons . By Thomas Gainsborough. One of 150 copies printed on Japan paper by L C Bauer. 11/150. Print signed by Timothy Cole 1852-1931 a well know engraver of the period and author of "Old English Masters". Limitation signed by L C Bauer. The original is currently in the National Gallery in London. Apparently the original was done in 1896. Print is 5 x 7 and frame is 14" x11". This is old glass and itis almost impossible to remove the reflections from it in the pictures. Depending on location may ship without glass. . Thomas Gainsborough unknown
