Professional attentions would benefit item and its readership otherwise just be cautious when going through. The V. Hugo singleton is a curiosity quite a ferocious style; the Daumier are splendid; all inclusions are worthwhile and unusual. As is. Reprint dune oeuvre qui fut linauguration de la caricature de moeurs. Celle-ci prit une allure nouvelle plus spécialement politique elle fut la satire générale des citoyens. Honoré Daumier 1808 -1879 graveur caricaturiste peintre et sculpteur français dont les nombreuses oeuvres commentaient la vie sociale et politique en France au 19e siècle. Dessinateur prolifique auteur de plus de 4000 lithographies il est surtout connu pour ses caricatures d'hommes politiques et ses satires du comportement de ses compatriotes. La Caricature cesse de paraître mais Philipon offre un nouveau champ daction à Daumier en fondant Le Charivari journal qui joue un rôle important dans la vie politique de l'époque et est spécialement dirigé contre Louis-Philippe. Daumier produit pour Le Charivari des caricatures sociales dans lesquelles il tourne en ridicule la société bourgeoise personnifiée par la figure de Robert Macaire héros d'un mélodrame populaire. Dans une autre série L'histoire ancienne il sen prend au pseudo-classicisme de l'art pendant cette période. Il se fait aussi le témoin de certains événements tragiques ou de scènes fortes se déroulant à Paris. unknown
