Comment sheet inserted addressed to the author. From the intro. by Bill Hopkins: "The Bartlett collection of sculptures and photographs represents not only a considerable artistic discovery but a singular expression of American genius. Half lifesize to scale the sculpted group of twelve teenage girls and three accompanying boys the latter recognizably self portraits was created by Morton Bartlett a reclusive Boston bachelor few knew. These sculptures were how he idealized an unattainable world that eluded him." From the inserted comment sheet: "As we say in the commentary "What was an obsession and manifestation of remarkable talent and ability for Morton Bartlett became a Rorschach test for many and a fascinating resource for scholars of his work.
