Collated complete. This work is the result of the Bartlett's visit to Jerusalem in the summer of 1842 providing topographical historical and cultural observations of his walks through the Holy City. With descriptions of the citadel Arab women Jewish antiquities the Church of the Holy Sepulchre the Mosque of Omar and much more.W. H. Bartlett was a British artist best known for his drawings rendered into steel engravings particularly those that depicted ruins or elements of the past. In the original decorative cloth binding. Externally with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the cloth and a small numbered reference label to the corner of the front board. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Armorial bookplate of one F. E. B. Witts to the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound.
