Page dimensions: 254 x 176mm 10" x 7". For many of the early quarto editions of Shakespearian quartos only half a dozen or so copies are known. In some cases as for the 1594 Titus Andronicus only one surviving copy is known see Introduction page ix. This title lists the ownership of known copies and has notes on the binding condition and completeness for most of the individual copies. Some of the main owners of Shakespearean quartos are the British Museum Folger and Huntington. An appendix lists unidentified copies that were listed in auction sales but whose ownership is unknown. This edition is revised and extended by one of the two original authors Henrietta C. Bartlett. This edition gives details of additional copies. 2 blank v 165 1 2 blank pages. 55949London: George Virtue 1839 - 1842. Sixteen plates by Bartlett engraved by Cousen Brandard Willmore others. These are proofs on India paper colored on white stock measuring 11 x 8.5 inches mounted on larger sheets of different stock which measure 17 x 11.5 inches. These are proofs before letters bearing only the artist and engraver names in the lower margin but no titles. the larger sheets are uniformly tanned with occasional foxing and some stains to margins a few with short tears in margins and wear to edges. Images are almost all in fine clean condition and all are colored. Titles are provided in a miniscule hand at the very bottom corner of the larger sheets and again on the rear sometimes with an associated page number. Most are of New York State. The images are mounted uniformly on larger card and are all captioned on the card with a preliminary title for the print in three different penciled handwriting. Some have indications of page numbers "p. 12 p. 108". The bulk of the images 18 are of New York State. The titles below are listed as they appear sic. The NY images include "Hudson Highlands Bull Hill; View from West Point on the Hudson N. Yk.; Crow's Nest from Bull Hill West Point; Village of Sing Sing on the Hudson; Chapel of our Lady of Coldspring; View near Anthonys Nose Hudson; Entrance to Hudson Highlands near Newburgh; The Narrows Lake George; Little Falls on the Mohawk; Village of Cattskill sic; Rail Road Scene Little Falls; The Outlet of Niagara River; Brock's Monument; New York from Weehawken; Narrows from Fort Hamilton N.Y.; Park & City Hall New York; Sabbath Day Point Lake George; The Rapids above the Falls of Niagara. <br /> <br /> The remaining images are of New England Pennsylvania and the mid-Atlantic States.
