Handsome copy despite the top headcap very slightly rubbed without any significance and a small nick at the foot of the front board. We include the dust jacket of the work in poor condition. Late nineteenth century coloured illustrations of social and street life of Paris accompanied with a printed description by the artist. A good only copy with marks from handling and a repaired torn page 9 showing the electric tramway. Top of spine damp marked see images but still a realistically priced and fascinating glimpse of the changing world of Paris at the end of the Nineteenth century. Undated late 1880s.; Oblong 10-3/4" x 9" 273 x 23 cm; 48 pp; Boards soiled worn at top/bottom of spine and at lower right corner. Both hinges are loose cracked at title page held together only by cords visibly cracked at rear endpapers as well. Pages show a faint wave along top edge no staining and have generally light though with occasional larger spots of foxing. 003223Paris: Librairie Plon. First Edition. Decorated Cloth. Very Good Plus. N.d. 1887. Oblong 23 by 27 cm. 48 pp. A tour of the streets of Paris and the various contretemps encountered most involving in some way horses whether working or sporting horses. Thus we encounter the collision of horses with modern technology from bicycles to electrified trams. The humor is somewhat dry and ironic. While one here can enjoy a glimpse of the pre-automobile city there is enough that is recognization in the various accidents activities pretensions and confusion that one might nod in recognition of many of Crafty's remarks. Binding is near mint in terms of the brightness of the cloth and imagery. Light foxing in early leaves then only occasionally. Most leaves are clean. Tiny pinprick hole on FFEP where there is the remnants of a seller's small price tag. Librairie Plon unknown
